Mayor Dwight C. Jones was on hand to cut the ribbon on the newly renovated East End Library, Tuesday, October 29. Shown in the photograph are (L-R) Brenda Drew (vice-chair of Library Board), Councilmember Cynthia Newbille, Mayor Jones, Veronica Holloway (library manager for East End Library), and Dr. Sandra Mobley (East End Library Advisory Council).

East End Library was built in 1965, and this is the first renovation of the building. The City’s capital budget funded the project, with $1.1 million, replacing all the lighting, windows, carpet, furniture, fixtures, equipment and paint, as well as doing exterior improvements. Located at 1200 North 25th St., the branch is again open to the public.
