The Richmond Public Library's 40th season of Gellman Room concerts continues as pianists Barbara Banyasz and Nancy Van Auken perform Franz Liszt's Weihnactsbaum ("Christmas Tree".) Please join us for this suite of piano duets portraying the many images of Christmas.
Saturday, November 23
Although Liszt composed only one completely original work for piano four-hands his transcriptions in this medium were extensive. One of his most successful and beloved is the Weihnachtsbaum transcription–the duet version of Liszt’s music originally composed for solo piano. Weihnachtsbaum consists of twelve short pieces divided into three books, with the only the first two groups dealing directly with Christmas themes.
The Gellman Room concert is free and the public is invited.
